Description The Voice Thread allowed me and my students to use a power-point presentation slideshow, and our voices to explain how we determined descriptions of non-linear graph representations. Students worked in pairs to explain why they selected their answer choices; whereas, others asked presenters to justify certain responses. Initially, I gave verbal directions regarding the matching exercise, sharing our previous lesson with non-linear graphs. Student presenters responded by explaining their answer choices with the entire class.
Reflection
This assignment allowed the students the opportunity to verbalize what they were doing and the thinking behind why they selected the answers they selected. Not surprising to me, students shared that they enjoyed using the Voice Thread Technology because many of them prefer to verbalize their answers, as opposed to writing it down. Teaching a Special Education Intensive Class, students’ accommodations call for verbal responses, rather than written; therefore this technology enables students to have modified instruction in a way that is exciting and engaging. I am eager to use this technology with future assignments, especially in the event a student has extensive absences, this way they can use the Voice Thread as a form of tutorial, viewing information completed in class as many times as needed to master concepts and skills.
